Hey y’all, and I hope you all had an awesome pre-Halloween weekend! Although I didn’t partake in any Halloween festivities this year (the work overload took over - the adulting life is surely real), I am excited to share ANOTHER bomb recipe with you guys in today’s blog post featuring Milk & Eggs ingredients. Again, I’ve partnered up with Milk & Eggs for this blog post, and I love collaborating with this specific OC/LA grocery delivery company because I LOVE sharing new and tasty recipes with you guys! As a huge foodie, I cannot resist trying new dishes and sharing them with my followers once I try them out for myself - so consider yourself lucky ;) For October’s highlighted recipe of the month, I introduce to you…HOMEMADE SIU MAI!

1/2 package wonton wrappers, round/circular
1/2 pound ground pork
1/2 pound shrimp, deveined and finely chopped
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 egg, beaten, for egg wash
Garnish: 1 small quarter of a carrot, minced
Special equipment: 1 or 2 large bamboo steamers with lid, pastry brush
1. In a medium-sized bowl, combine pork, shrimp, soy sauce, ginger, sesame oil, salt, and pepper.
2. Spoon one teaspoon of the meat filling mixture (from Step 1) into the center of a wonton wrapper. Lightly brush the sides of the wrapper with egg wash. Squeeze the sides up until the wrapper forms a cup, tucking in the sides and leaving the filling exposed on top. Repeat with the rest of the wrappers.
3. Add parchment paper to the bottom of 1 - 2 large bamboo steamers. Fit the steamer basket(s) in the wok and pour enough water into the wok until the water line is 1 inch below the bottom of the steamer. Steam siu mai for 12 - 15 minutes, until filling is firm to the touch. Serve with soy sauce, chili sauce, or chili oil.

Thanks to my brother-in-law and older sister, I was introduced to this delicious recipe and wanted to share it with all of you! Also, another reason why I LOVE this particular homemade Siu Mai recipe is because it is an entree that you can either make and eat fresh, OR you can freeze them for later consumption! All in all, this homemade Siu Mai dish serves as the ideal recipe that is perfect for family/friend gatherings or a quick dish to make for yourself when you have to eat fast!
