Life-Changing Books I Recommend

Heyo everybody & welcome back to the blog! By the time you are reading this, you probably would have noticed (or not, if you are new here - LOL) that my blog received a HUGE MAKEOVER by the lovely GoLive team! I discovered GoLive through a casual Google search while browsing for free Squarespace templates and I am absolutely over-the-top SOLD with their website design services - honestly, their work is literally worth every penny. Definitely check out GoLive’s professional Squarespace templates if you are looking to renovate your website any time in the near future!

Anyways, we can talk about my blog update and life another day. After all, let’s not divert away from today’s blog post topic since I wanted to introduce you guys to my top favorite book recommendations for the longest time.

It’s a funny story - I only started reading in 2018 once an ex-boyfriend snapped at me, “Why are you always on your phone?!” I mean, this type of reaction made sense. I always scrolled mindlessly on my phone as a way to kill time, but to be honest, I never really fully enjoyed the scrolling process - it was just mindless, bored-in-the-house scrolling (anyone catch that TikTok reference? ;) ). After hearing that snappy remark, I picked up one of his books and from there, I was hooked on reading.

When it comes to reading, I always strayed away from books in the past because of the fact that I felt intimidated by books and their covers.

“Are there even any fun books out there?

“Is this book meant for children or teenagers?”

“Is this a book that is not embarrassing to read in public or to read in general?”

“What is the ideal book that will make me look and feel smart? I don’t want to look like an outcast or a weirdo.”

Various questions like the ones above always ran through my mind as I contemplated the thought of even picking up a book. But at the end of the day, I always ended up empty-handed. If there is one thing I can thank my ex for, it was definitely his push towards getting me to actually pick up a book and READ. Reading has not only changed my life for the better mentally and spiritually, but I feel that every new book that I pick up makes me a more well-rounded and open-minded individual.

Down below, you will see all of the books that I have read, loved, and now recommend to you guys. Underneath my favorite books listed, you can also find my book wishlist categorized by genre as well. Now without further ado, let’s get to my must-have favorite books of all time!

Career & Entrepreneurship Books

Last but not least, I wanted to share one last book list with y’all - aka popular books that I have attempted to read, but just could not manage to get through. To each their own, but in my personal opinion, these books were just too dry for me to complete. Since these are popular reads, please take this anti-book list with a grain of salt, as everybody has a different preference when it comes to their favorite reads.

Call me a picky reader, but if I am not captivated within the first chapter of a book, I often put it down and go for another book that can keep me engaged with every word. The books below did not keep my interest for very long, but perhaps they may for you!

Popular Books I (Personally) Would Not Recommend Reading:

  • 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey

*The text was too old-fashioned and dry.

  • The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide To Personal Freedom
*The text was repetitive (said the same things over and over without rephrasing) and dry.

  • Unfuck Yourself by Gary John Bishop

*The text was too boring and dry.

If you are somebody who does not read, I really hope that you do give it a chance one day because reading has definitely changed my life for the better! I cannot explain it, but whenever I read a life-changing book, I feel more fulfilled, self-aware, and closer to inner peace. After all, I can safely say that after I became an official bookworm (and proud!), reading books make me truly happy. Also, if you have NO clue where to start when it comes to buying or picking up a new book, start off with The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson or The 5 Love Languages: The Secret To Love That Lasts by Gary Chapman. Honestly, you cannot go wrong with either of these :)

Believe it or not, one of the things I look MOST forward to throughout my busy work day is actually winding down by picking up a good book! As a majority of the books I read state, reading just 10 pages of a life-changing book can really make a positive difference in multiple aspects of your life - whether this is related to relationships, finances, self-growth, goal-chasing, entrepreneurship, and more.

What is your favorite book of all-time? What is your favorite book type/genre or who is your favorite author? I would love to hear your book recommendations.
