Three Types Of Gifts To Send Loved Ones During Quarantine

QuarantineMich-5.jpg

Ever since our society has been under self-quarantine or lockdown, it is unfortunate that we have to temporarily hold off from expressing care towards our loved ones through intimate physical gatherings. Not only have significant events such as weddings, birthday parties, proms, and graduations been cancelled or postponed, but a lot of us (specifically, those who live alone or are not married yet) are forced to stay away from our partners and parents in order to keep them safe.

This quarantine is similar to hitting the “pause” button on life, and thus, we have more time than ever to dive into hobbies that we once had no time for, interests we were always curious about learning, and more. With that being said, I wanted to share a few ways on how YOU can still stay in touch and express your love to the favorite people in your life, despite these temporary physical boundaries placed on us.

  1. Celebratory invitations or announcement cards.

From graduations to baby showers, it is important that we commemorate the significant milestones in our life. After all, you’ve worked hard - you deserve that spotlight! Just because we have to self-quarantine does not mean that social distancing has to rain on our parade! In other words, being in self-quarantine just means that we have to get a little more creative when it comes to sharing special events with our loved ones.

Not being able to celebrate a special day in the physical presence of our loved ones does NOT mean that we have to entirely cancel our celebrations. Instead, we can celebrate our loved one’s accomplishment verbally (or even virtually)!

For example, we know that a majority of graduations have been cancelled this year, but that does not mean you have to dismiss the good vibes! Instead of attending a graduation in your cap and gown, you can still send graduation cards to your close homies and family members to commemorate your graduating year. You can still create a fun Zoom party with your close graduate friends and virtually congratulate each other. Just know that you can STILL celebrate any milestone in your life and we ain’t going to let any lockdown get in the way of our fun!

The same goes for my older sister - she is welcoming a new life into this world in June 2020 and unfortunately, she had to cancel her baby shower to keep her loved ones safe. In absence of a physical baby shower, my sister could also send Baby Shower invitations from Basic Invite to remind her loved ones that her little girl is on the way! And for those who had to postpone their 2020 weddings, there’s no harm in sending another Save-The-Date card with an updated wedding date.

If you are looking for a trustworthy stationery brand to send invitations or announcements, Basic Invite is a specializes in customized graduation invitations, thank you cards, and more. 2. Customized gifts that benefit one’s health or improves one’s lifestyle.

These days, I can definitely feel an extra level of “stress” from some people who are overexerting stress over our current situation. I completely understand that it is a very unstable and anxiety-inducing time for us all (some more than others), but I also like to argue that stressing ourselves out does not IMPROVE our situation. If anything, one’s situation and one’s overall health will take a beating if you go crazy about everything that’s going on.

Instead of freaking out, we should channel this same energy into doing something that is more positive for not only yourself, but for your loved ones instead.

The time you spend freaking out could be spent more positively picking up a new hobby, exercising, eating healthier, and so on.

If you ask what I’ve been up to during self-quarantine, I’ve been working, exercising, cooking, reading, and resting. I’m pretty much a happy Snorlax living in a cave, but I ain’t even mad about it. But beyond caring for myself, I also want to lend a helping hand to my family. Although they are luckily healthy and happy at their Bay Area home, I want to do everything in my power to provide them with anything that could benefit or improve their lifestyle or health (especially because my parents are growing older!).

That being said, I sent my Dad a dope bluetooth body scale that measures body fat %, BMI, muscle mass, and more for his birthday and my Mom a bougie footbath that comes with heat, bubbles, and foot massages for Mother’s Day. Not only would the scale help my Dad monitor his health better, but the footbath helps reduce soreness of the feet and stress since you can always find my Mom standing on her feet for hours cooking away for the family!

Additionally, I sent my older sister a brand new diaper bag and luxurious purse as presents that I could not give her in person due to the cancellation of her baby shower. All of them are particularly happy with their presents and I’m glad that I could get all three of them something that could help make their lives a little bit brighter during quarantine.

3. Customized care package for frontline healthcare workers.

If you didn’t already hear it from Instastories, my agency, Infinite Potential Agency, is working on distributing fun goodie bags to frontline healthcare workers, delivery drivers, mailmen, and more as a way to say thanks to those who serve our community. You can find all of the behind-the-scenes on our Instagram highlights called “GIVING BACK” linked here.

If you find yourself bored these days, I highly suggest you pick up some kind of activity that involves giving back to our community. Not only will you feel more fulfillment and inner peace, but you will also be happy knowing you played a role in making somebody’s day a little bit brighter. Even if you do not have the finances to give back via a monetary donation, you can give back through the time invested towards creating customized goodie bags, gift bags, thank you notes, and/or homemade masks to our frontline workers.

When it comes to creating customized goodie or gift bags, my top tip would be to email targeted brands with your initiative idea and what you plan to do to give back to healthcare workers and more. During this difficult time, I love how brand owners and businesses are coming together to give back to our community and I’m sure that these businesses would be more than happy to read your proposal, knowing that you’re doing your best to give back as well!
