Why You Need A Gallery Wall For Your Home

When looking to spice up empty corners or blank walls in my home, there’s nothing more fun than shopping for new home decor to spruce up my humble abode. However, I totally feel for those who get stressed with online shopping or have no idea where to shop when it comes to home decor, as there are countless online stores and an endless amount of products to choose from.

“I’m so new to home decor. Where do I even start?!”

“Which home decor stores have trustworthy and credible reviews?”

*browses through Pinterest*
“Okay, I need that pouf. Like NEED. CRAP, it’s sold out! Where else can I find it?!”

Fear not - it’s Product Review Mish to the rescue! As an aspiring new home decorist myself, I just RECENTLY got into the trend of creating an Instagrammable and zen-like sanctuary that I can also call my home. Maybe it’s quarantine season, maybe it’s aging (LOL #grandmalyfe), but something inside of me has truly changed over the last few months. As a result, a new Mish was born and she exuberates this newfound excitement and passion for all things home decor and home organization.

Also, I realized that adding aesthetic and cohesive elements to various areas throughout my home actually help me feel more at peace. Not only do I feel less anxiety and stress when looking at a nicely decorated home, but overall, I just feel like there’s no other place i rather be. Or, I could totally just be justifying my reason to shop multiple times per week on Amazon and various other stores, hah.

If you are curious, my recent tasks throughout the week include making a list of products that I need, finding quality products from stores that didn’t break the bank, comparing prices of the same product from different stores, blueprinting where I want ideal furniture placed in my home, and more. What you see on Instagram and Pinterest is most likely a result of many hours of planning and shopping, and I can attest to this - I mean, just look at my Pinterest Home Inspiration Board with a whopping 2,700+ pins on beautiful homes from all around the world. If this ain’t one of my hobbies, then I don’t know what else you would call it. It is now the second month (almost third!) since I have moved in, and yes, I am still buying furniture, utensils, dishware, rugs, and more. My entryway is literally FILLED with boxes to the point where I can’t even open my own entrance door to greet delivery drivers.

But one thing’s for certain. Out of all of the home decor pieces that I shop for, one of the most important elements that neatly tie a home together include hanging up the right FRAMES.

“Which frames should I buy? And where should I get them from? Will they match in this corner here, or would they look better in the hallway instead?”

That being said, I wanted to introduce to you guys a brand called Desenio. In fact, Desenio is an online store that incorporates Scandinavian design into all of their frames and is known for their best-selling gallery walls. I actually discovered Desenio over a year ago when I saw a few influencers feature their Desenio frames in their own homes. After seeing their posts, I knew that one day I wanted to own frames from Desenio when I had my own place as well. With full transparency, I also wanted to disclose that I am collaborating with Desenio for this blog post, but I also spent my own money as well to purchase additional frames from them to achieve the gallery wall of my dreams.

First, let’s start off with the fact that I have no natural artistic vision whatsoever. In fact, a lot of my home decor and home organization “expertise” comes from the inspirational tool, Pinterest, itself. If you don’t know where to start, Desenio offers a gallery wall tool on their website to help you create the gallery wall of your dreams. Personally, I decided to start shopping in their gallery wall tab, which contained “presets” or “defaults” of their best-selling gallery walls, and scrolled through PAGES and PAGES of designs until I found a wall art design that best resonated with me. The template that I fell in love with at first sight is called the Geometric Pastels Gallery Wall. I felt that this specific gallery wall had a very classy, museum-esque vibe to it and I also wanted to avoid the SoCal Tumblr Girl vibe when it came to picking out my designs. In other words, I avoided anything that had to do with nature, quotes, beach, palm trees, and more - as beautiful as these designs are on their website, they just weren’t me. Wow, I really am getting old.

After ordering my prints, I received help from both my friend and brother-in-law to help bring this artistic vision to life. My friend helped me with putting the printed designs into their respective frames, while my brother-in-law assisted with the proper procedure of measuring and hanging up the frames. All you need is a few frame hooks and a hammer to take care of this task! After seeing the finished result, we definitely got classy hotel vibes from seeing each frame beautifully hung on the wall with perfect, symmetrical spacing in between each frame from every edge of the newly painted white wall.

If you’re wondering WHERE I hung up my gallery wall, this space is the third floor between my laundry room and master bedroom. In fact, it’s the first thing that draws your attention when walking up the last flight of stairs before entering my room. If anything, I wanted something on that specific part of the wall that was inviting and eye-catching when you make it to the top of the stairs - kind of like a treat for your eyes and a reward for climbing three flights of stairs in total, LOL. Trust me when I say that the right frames will make a HUGE difference when it comes to setting the mood, personality, style, and ambiance of your home. Personally, I feel like walls that are too bare lack excitement and fails to capture the homely vibe that I look for, but that’s just this girl’s opinion.

All in all, I am very happy with the visual result of my first gallery wall and I would highly recommend anybody to shop at Desenio if they are looking to add some color and excitement to their space. Since my home has a LOT of windows, I don’t have a lot of wall space to add another gallery wall except for ONE spot on the second floor…so perhaps this can be another home decor passion project in the near future ;)

If you do decide to check out Desenio for yourself, don’t forget to use my discount code “MICHELLESUN” for 25% off your entire purchase (does not apply to frames or handpicked/personalized prints) to save some moolah! Happy Shopping!
